Company History

Dacourt’s predecessor was founded in 1928 under the name C. G. Somers Real Estate Company. In 1945 Mr. Somers’ son-in-law, D. Earl Pardue, joined the firm and the name was changed to The Somers-Pardue Agency, Inc. Insurance services were added. In 1968 David E. Pardue joined the firm. Over the following 15 years, the commercial side of the real estate division grew rapidly and the residential division was eliminated. In 1982, the insurance division and the “Somers-Pardue” business name were purchased by four long-term employees. David Pardue assumed ownership of the real estate investment division which was renamed The Dacourt Group, Inc.

From the early 1970s through today the primary business has been purchasing and syndicating large commercial real estate projects. In 1987 Dacourt Golf, Inc. was formed and now owns and operates two very successful golf courses in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. In 1989-1995 subsidiaries Dacourt Communications, Inc. and Dacourt Limited Partnership were active in successful start-up businesses including cellular telephone development in South Dakota and providing the initial financial backing for Immersive Media, Inc.
